Around Town -- January 25, 2013

Posted: Updated:

Food, fun and finances are topics for this week's "Around Town."

At over 40,000 members, North Dakota's largest general farm organization is opening a branch office in Mandan.  North Dakota Farmers Union President Woody Barth says this new branch will offer members more access to services, and afford the organization better access to the state capital to address North Dakota farm policy.

While this location will be a specialized branch, any member who needs assistance with either insurance or farm organization is welcome to stop by.  The insurance side of the business will remain in the front of the building at 3801 Memorial Highway, while farm organization operations will run out of the back.

The specialized branch of Farmers Union is set to be up and running February 1st, with a grand opening celebration on February 20th.

Action Motor Sports is planning a big move -- and a large expansion.  They'll be relocating from their existing store at 1417 39th Avenue SE in Mandan to 4316 Memorial Highway -- but not until 2014.  You'll have to wait to see the approximately 24,000 square foot facility on over three acres, which will nearly triple the size of their existing operation.  Plus, they're doubling staff from seven to between 12 and 14 employees.  The owner says they are growing fast, and sales are up 30 percent.

Tokyo Asian Cuisine and Hibachi is coming to town near the MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub.  A new Super 8 Motel is set to be built next door.
