People suffering from celiac disease or gluten intolerance often struggle to find food substitutes.
Gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye, can be found in everything from bread to shampoo-- making it difficult to avoid.
But one Mandan business is making the search a little easier.
After being diagnosed with celiac disease, Lisa Helseth used to travel to Minneapolis to find gluten-free products. That is-- until she opened Lisa's Gluten Free and More last year.
The store offers a variety of products. And best of all- there is no need to read labels here-- every product is gluten-free. And you just might be surprised at how good it can taste.
"It's very overwhelming. You go to the store and it takes forever to read labels," says Lisa Helseth.
"We have a pasta that's really good. We got a lot of people hooked. It's better than regular pasta. "
Lisa's Gluten Free and More is the only gluten-free store in North Dakota.
It will celebrate its one year anniversary on February 25th.
