St. Mary's Boys Basketball team sits in second place in the State Class A standings trailing only Red River.
The Saints sit 8 and 1 overall-- 6 and 1 in the WDA.
St. Mary's has a junior loaded roster-- 13 to be exact-- 3 of them were starters last year as sophomores.
Head Coach Joe Mueller says that post season experience is helping lead the Saints in their 8 and 1 record
(MUELLER)" It's Big you know it's big. It's different if those guys had been their first year playing varsity and for some it is. Some of the guys come off the bench it is but they're relying on their buddies you know they've been through it they've been through big games and difficult environments so we try to get that we rely on some of that experience you know you're game tested you've been through those battles a little bit that's what helps you when you're in those situations again"
The Saints leave the friendly confines of their home gym as they travel north to take on WDA leading Minot in what looks to be the first of two great matchups.
In their 7 division games-- Ben Weisbeck has helped lead the saints with 124 points--second best in the west and Darius Sparks isn't far behind with 104 points.
Weisbeck says Minot's experience will bring some challenges to the court for St. Mary's.
(WEISBECK) "Minot's a great team they're experienced a huge senior roster and we'll just have to bring it tomorrow night I mean our teams are very similar and so it will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. "
Tip off is set for 7:30 in Minot as the Saints look to win their 8th Straight.
