City Looking for Public Input on Flood Control

Posted: Updated:

City officials are encouraging citizens of Minot to attend the Finance Committee Meeting and Public Works and Safety Committee Meeting.

Over the next two days, the meetings will give citizens a preliminary layout of the flood protection project.

Public Works staff has worked with consultants where they believe the project should start.

The plan is being broken down into several smaller phases.

They believe certain areas around the river should be done first.

Officials have projected the flood protection project to be 540 million dollars.

Public Works director Dan Jonasson would like to see a large turnout to voice public opinions of where citizens believe plans should begin.

(Dan Jonasson, Director, Public Works) "We're hoping the people will come and see that we are proceeding with the flood protection project so that they are aware that we are continually working on it to try to come with a project to protect the flood record."

The meetings will be held tomorrow and Wednesday at 4:15 in the Council Chambers.
