Owners and employees of the Northern Livestock Auction enjoyed one last run before riding off in the sunset today.
The auction will close today after more than 50 years of service to Minot ranchers.
Dozens turned out today to purchase cattle for their farms.
Roger Sundsback and George Blitz have owned Northern Livestock for over a decade.
The property is owned by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway.
The two owners were informed in October their lease would not be renewed.
Ten year employee Gordon Dahl said having a cattle auction in Minot was convenient and ranchers will now have to travel around 100 miles to the next cattle auction.
(Gordon Dahl, Fieldman/Consignor) "It's very emotional to me. I'm going to miss it. The two owners are really going to miss it. The whole neighborhood is going to miss it. The town is going to suffer financially and it's going to hard real hard."
There is a possibility of a reopening of the auction. When and where remains unknown.
