Prosecution Continues in Murder Case

It's day three of the murder trial of Omar Mohamed Kalmio, the man accused of killing four people in Minot in January 2011.

Nearly 50 witnesses have been called on to testify by the prosecution.

As Shaun Sipma reports, testimony today drew a vivid picture of not only the events, but the relationship between Kalmio and the Zephiers.

Through testimony from friends of the Zephier's, prosecution Wednesday painted a picture of abuse and intimidation by Omar Kalmio to Sabrina Zephier and her Family.

(Laura Iverson, Sabrina's Friend) "They got into an argument and Omar Began Hitting her. I went downstairs and called 911.

"Sabrina's face, side of her face is kind of swollen and black and blue."

(Gloria Carbajal, Jolene's Friend) "They got into an argument because he had been beating her daughter. He told her he would kill her and her whole family."

(Natasha Huntsalong, Sabrina's Friend) "Had fingerprints, kick mark on her side and big bruise on her Calf."

Through testimony is was revealed that Sabrina had visited the Domestic Violence Crisis Center in Minot late in December 2010.

And had planned to move in with Natasha Huntsalong in late January 2011.

(Natasha Huntsalong, Sabrina's Friend) Sabrina started to cry and he had her by the wrist and was pulling her, you're not moving in here."

Prosecution then turned to the work crew who were assigned to the same drilling site Kalmio in western North Dakota when the crime happened.

Two men who were staying in the same quarters testified that they heard two doors close at about 12:30 and William Roberts looked out the front door.

(William Roberts, Former Coworker of Kalmio) "I looked out and I seen Omar and his brother in the front in the company truck."

Another witness Loren Kline testified that 2:30 on the morning, roughly 2 hours after Kalmio was seen in a company truck outside his sleeping quarters near Williston, he finished his truck route and saw a similar pickup parked near his business shop near Sabrina's apartment.

(Loren Kline, Semi Driver) "His pickup was facing north , I saw a head running along this street."

Prosecution then brought the missing gun back into the spotlight.

Calling former students who attended Job Corps with Sabrina and Omar.

Three testified that Omar called them directly looking to buy a gun.

"He said he wanted to kill that "B" his baby's Momma"

Rosy Bautista, A former Job Corps Student also testified to seeing a gun in the back of Omar's vehicle in July 2010.

Defense is expected to continue calling witnesses Thursday.

At the Ward County Courthouse, Shaun Sipma KX news.

A former coworker also testified that Kalmio admitted to him that he did own a 9mm when the two were having a conversation about buying guns.
