Walking To Raise Awareness About Heart Disease

Posted:

Five hospitals are competing today to determine who has the most "heart."

It's all part of "National Wear Red Day" raising awareness about Heart Disease.

St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck is one of the five hospitals taking part in the competition.

Two treadmills ran constantly at St. Alexius today, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The hospital who logs the most miles in the twelve hour window wins the contest.

Lenore Keller is one of many donating her miles, promoting heart healthy activity.

"Well my dad had a heart attack when he was 45 and my father in law died of heart disease also, and I just want to be around for my grandchildren, it's good for everybody to do to get some exercise, especially on these cold winter days," Lenore Keller said.

Sanford Health in Bismarck and Fargo competed today, along with St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson and Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
