Great accessories, self-defense classes, and a hot brew -- in this week's Around Town.
The owner of Hey Ocean is opening a new boutique in Bismarck. Right on Broadway is the name of the coming-soon store that will offer high quality-specialty handbags, accessories and shoes for men and women. The boutique is expected to be open at the end of March.
Right on Broadway will be located at 208 East Broadway in the former Urban Girl space.
They've more than doubled in size, but Reis Martial Arts in Mandan is almost out of room again. Owners Tomas and Roxanne Reis offer a family environment where parents can train with their kids -- but seniors are welcome too. Rather than traditional martial arts forms, this instruction is about street defense, building on strengths and improving weaknesses. For "Little Dragons," this includes "stranger danger" and bully situations.
Tomas Reis, Owner/Instructor of Reis Martial Arts, says to "really to make an impact on the community and to change lives, I need to start at these younger ages, and this is really what I enjoy. And as cop in California, I was a youth gang officer, so I know the direction they can go if they don't have the right mentorship and the right guidance."
Reis Martial Arts will soon offer Krav Maga training, which is the self-defense system of the Israeli military. You can obtain more information at www.ReisMartialArts.com, including details about upcoming seminars open to the public. Reis is currently hiring both full and part-time positions.
The sole coffee hut in Bismarck is under new ownership as of today. The Rolling Cappuccino is expanding with soups and sandwiches in March, and a likely building addition this Summer. The warm weather will also bring new treats for kids, including snow cones. Right now, you can drive-thru for lattes, espressos, muffins, bagels and more. They're located at 1019 East Main, and are open 6 to 6, Monday through Friday. Look for Saturday hours this Summer.
