The Western Pennsylvania Real Estate Investor’s Association hosted the first of what will likely become an annual internet marketing course for members of the Pittsburgh based club. The three day class was taught by local internet marketing and web site creation firm, Zebulon Technologies.
Zebulon Tech is the company that created the real estate club’s web site and also the company that created the web site for club President Josh Caldwell’s real estate buying web site.
The focus of the event was not web site creation but rather , on internet marketing. More specifically the focus was geared toward search engine optimization of a standing web site.
Search engine optimization or SEO is a series of techniques that, when employed correctly, will help a web site to get found by the various search engines that potential customers are using to shop for goods and services. A web site is virtually useless if customers can’t find it.
In modern internet marketing, SEO has become a sort of arms race between rival companies operating in the same market space. Fortune 500 companies have teams of employees who do nothing but focus on search engine optimization as a full time job. For smaller mom and pop companies SEO is often out of reach. That is why WPREIA partnered with Zebulon Tech to bring this course of instruction to the group’s membership.
Several real estate investors used this class to improve their web presence while the class was still going. “Many of the techniques that were taught were so simple to implement that I couldn’t wait to get home and improve my web site’s search ranking” said Josh Caldwell of Caldwell Holdings LLC. His Pittsburgh home buyer web site http://homesellpittsburgh.com is target at people who are having trouble selling their home or who have a need to sell faster than the traditional market mechanisms would normally allow. Understanding how a search engine like Google, Bing, or Ask ranks search traffic is very important to a small business like this. The internet is the only place where a small company can compete on a level playing field with the giants of an industry. All it takes is a few simple tools and the knowledge of how to use those tools, and any company can reach out to customers across the country or around the world.
Other Western Pennsylvania real estate investors learned to improve their web sites, and how to drive more internet traffic to an established web site. Another site that looks to improve its web traffic in Allegheny County and surrounding counties of the Pittsburgh metro area is http://sellyourhouseinpittsburghpa.com . This home buying investors company specializes in taking over debt, and helping people out of bad situations. This hyper competitive sub sector of the Pittsburgh real estate market is very technology driven and any advantage is short lived. This is why small companies need to attend these sorts of trainings. It is either learn about web based marketing in a seminar environment or go back to college.
Although the common link of the real estate investing group is real estate, at least one member of the group used this time to learn how to promote another business venture. One club member is also an Ambit Energy consultant. Ambit energy is a discount energy provider that offers discounted natural gas and electricity transmission for both residential and commercial users. To compete with other nation wide service providers, a simple web presence isn’t enough.
Among the exciting techniques that were taught in this class was the use of keywords in internet marketing and how to locate the most powerful keywords and link them to a web site. There was also a special segment on locating and exploiting the keywords of your competitors. Once you know the keywords of a competitor, it is fairly easy to siphon off a portion of their web traffic. There is no more competitive arena than the internet.
