Fifth grade students from Roosevelt Elementary have their art on display.
This artwork is showcased at Basin Electric in Bismarck, thanks to a program through the North Dakota Council of the Arts.
"In this particular program we call it our salt program and what we've done is taken arts integration and moved it into the schools, so we're actually taking art in a natural way and connecting it to the curriculum," Helen Risan said.
Since Bismarck schools don't have a primary ART teacher, regular classroom teachers are left no choice but to teach art.
Through the North Dakota Council of the Arts, teachers can take a three year program, allowing them to learn ways to teach their students art.
Basin Electric is one of the sponsors of the program, and they're proud to show off the students colorful work.
"When you look at the talent of these fifth graders that are displayed here today, you know these kids are our future and whether it's future employees, future leaders, but they are our future and when you see talent like this that's being displayed it just gives you a good feeling, that man this is really worth showing off," Daryl Hill said.
The artwork on display was done by Barb Sandstrom's fifth graders at Roosevelt Elementary.
