Free Tax Aid Offices Open

Posted: Updated:

Free Tax-Aid Offices are now open and ready to help low to moderate income families with tax preparation this year.

AARP Tax-Aid is the nation's largest, free, volunteer-run tax preparation where low to moderate income tax payers of all ages can take advantage of this service.

The Red Cross will be hosting Minot's AARP Tax-Aide site this season where IRS-certified volunteers will assist in filing accurate returns at no cost.

Tax-Aide for the Minot area started at the beginning of this month and will run up until April 13th at the Minot Red Cross office on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays by appointment only.

Gary Ellingson, Local Coordinator, AARP Tax-Aide Program) "The idea is to make it a little easier for those people for the expense of doing the tax returns. We do fairly simple tax returns and so it makes it a lot easier for the lower income people, not much of a burden on them and we take the time, we have a lot of time to explain to them."

You do not need to be an AARP member to take advantage of this service.

To schedule an appointment, call 701-509-1446.
