Around Town -- February 8, 2013

Posted: Updated:

A brand new optical boutique in Bismarck, plus two eateries in Dickinson -- in this week's Around Town.

One corner at Broadway and Washington will soon undergo a complete transformation.
The space previously housing an antique store will now host, what the owner calls, a new high-fashion, affordable optical shop.  Blink Eyewear will feature prescription and non-prescription glasses, including sunglasses and reading glasses.  North Dakota native, Kelley Deforest Dockter, Owner of Blink Eyewear, says "you bring your prescription into me, or I can call for it, and then we're going to carry some exclusive lines to the area.  If we don't have something, I'll definitely find it for you."

Renovations are getting underway that will convert the space into an open, contemporary shopping experience -- complete with coffee bar -- set to open mid-March to beginning of April.
You can follow the progress online at Blink Eyewear's Facebook page.

It's been described as "combining sports bar with plush dining" -- a place that both cuts its own steaks and offers vegetarian fare.  Co-Owner and General Manager Wayne Rau says at Players Sports Bar & Grill, there is truly something for everyone -- including 47 flat screen TVs and 24 beers on tap.  And the place is big -- really big.  In over 9,700 square feet, Players can seat 274 people -- and 100 more, when you count the patio and private dining area, which you can reserve for parties.

Players Sports Bar & Grill is located at 2050 First Avenue East in Dickinson -- and they're hiring.  Expect Players to be around -- the owners say they're in it for the long haul, "even if the oil leaves."

Cherry Berry has come to Dickinson.  The self-serve yogurt bar offers over 12 to 14 varying premium healthy and fat-free frozen yogurt flavors -- including gluten-free and sugar-free options -- and over 50 toppings.  The company says their yogurts are not like some competitors, since they use real dairy -- not powders.  All Cherry Berry stores are locally-owned and operated.  Located at 1674 15th Street West in Dickinson, they're open everyday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
