Minot Public Schools will have a post-Labor Day start date for classes next school year under calendars to be considered by the school board next week.
School board members will look over two proposed school year calendars - one with classes starting September 3rd - the day after Labor Day, and the other with a start date of September 5th.
It would be the first time in recent memory that the school district has scheduled classes to begin after Labor Day - although it happened just two years ago when the 2011 start date was delayed by the flood.
This time, the delayed start is to assure that construction on the new Ramstad Middle School will be finished and the building will be ready for students.
Both of the proposed school year calendars have a graduation date of June 7th, 2014.
The school board meets Wednesday to discuss the schedule.
