Primera’s Signature® Slide Printer, which delivers new features, reliability and affordability to hospitals, universities, medical clinics and drug research and development organizations, is subject of lawsuit in central Florida.
Plymouth, MN, USA (PRWEB) February 13, 2013
Primera Technology, Inc. ("Primera") today announced that it has filed a response in the U.S. District Court of the Middle District of Florida, denying the infringement of a patent alleged in a complaint brought by Accuplace of Plantation, FL.
The suit was filed in the US District Court of the Middle District of Florida on 11/16/2012 and is case no. 6:12-cv-01727-RBD-DAB.
Primera’s Signature® Slide Printer utilizes thermal transfer printing technology that has been widely available for this and other applications since the late 1980s.
According to Mark D. Strobel, Primera's vice president of sales and marketing, "Primera strongly believes that the marketplace should not be misled by the claims in the Accuplace lawsuit. We will vigorously defend our Signature Slide Printer and its expanding market position by showing that the Accuplace claims are baseless and that the Accuplace patent is neither infringed nor valid."
Signature Slide Printers have gained rapid acceptance in hospital and medical laboratories, universities and drug research and development organizations since they were introduced in mid 2012. They are the world's first and only direct-to-slide printers that can print in color as well as black monochrome. This unique feature can make labs more efficient and helps to prevent errors by providing color coding in addition to printing text and bar codes.
“As Primera’s Signature Slide Printer has gained market share we have obviously put market pressure on Accuplace. We strongly believe that our position of non-infringement will be recognized and that Accuplace will have to respond in the future by competing on the merits of its products instead of filing lawsuits,” said Mr. Strobel.
