Speeding in North Dakota could cost you more.
The House of Representatives approved a bill this afternoon to raise speeding fines in the state.
The bill targets drivers speeding in 65 mile per hour or less zones and in cities.
The bill was drafted at the request of the Department of Transportation to deter speeding.
Representative Dan Ruby says the bill raises fines substantially.
If passed, speeding in a 65 mile per hour zone or less could cost $2 for every mile over the limit.
The bill also doubles the fine for speeding in a school zone to $80.
Speeding fines have not been adjusted in over thirty years.
The bill now moves to the Senate.
