Radio Show Features Local Talent

Posted:

If you're a fan of local music, a Bismarck radio station has a new show that might peak your interest.

Rock 101 recently changed it's music platform from classic rock to active rock.

But they are offering more than a new era of music...

Report Krista Harju has more.

"Welcome in to Dakota Damnation!"

Rock 101 is bringing you Public Service Announcements that rock.

"We chose our Sunday night program, Dakota Damnation, to use that as our vehicle on our station, Rock 101, as a way to air our Public Service Announcements by playing local rock n' roll bands," said Dave Allan.

Launched in November, the show features the work of more than ten local artists from across the state.

"We've played Devil's Lake bands, Valley City, a lot of Grand Forks bands, some from Fargo, Minot, Bismarck and Mandan bands."

Radio hosts Dave Allan, Mark Kidder, and Ginger G. feature one band each week, playing their music alongside big name acts from across the nation.

Host Mark Kidder says it's a great from of publicity for local musicians.

And a great way to feature what's happening in the area.

"There's a lot of great talent around here. And we really want to make sure it gets featured like it needs to help keep the local music scene thriving," says Mark Kidder.

And he says they are always looking for more.

The show is currently broadcast in Minot, Grand Forks, and Bismarck.

They hope to be launching in Dickinson in April.
