Minot Man TV Finale

Posted: Updated:

When the black gold of North Dakota was starting to take off again, one man headed north for the rock gold of Alaska --- and the glow of Hollywood lights.

Fred Hurt or 'Dakota Fred' is in Portland this week, preparing for the live season three finale of Discovery Channel's 'Gold Rush.'

Dakota Fred spent most of his life south of New Orleans.

Due for a hurricane, Fred moved to Minot about ten years ago to be closer to his wife's family and he now lists Minot as his home town on his 'Gold Rush' biography.

Everyone is invited to watch the live season finale at the Behm's Truck Stop Back Roads Bar and Grill.

(Paul Behm, Dakota Fred's Extended Family) "We're excited about it. There'll be a lot of the family - Fred's extended family - as we call it around here and we'll have a lot of his friends that he's worked with over the years."

Festivities will start with Happy Hour at 6 tonight.

Gold Rush starts at 7:00.

Behm says T-shirts and signed memorabilia give away's will take place through out the night.
