Grain Elevator Photo Contest - KXNet - Bismarck/Minot/Williston/Dickinson

Grain Elevator Photo Contest

Posted:

North Dakota's agriculture history is captured in a snap shot.

More than 500 photos were submitted for the State Historical Society's Photo Contest.
The society's first photo contest features grain elevators.
The contest isn't only about featuring scenic photos, but preserving history.

(Lorna Meidinger / ND Historical Society) "We wanted something that is really kind of of iconic to North Dakota for our first contest and a secondary part of this mission is finding out where things are and grain elevators are large enough I can find them on aerial photos and I can actually map them if they are out by themselves somewhere."

Meidinger says the society plans to announce another photo contest this May.
Winning photos from this contest will be published at history dot nd dot gov.
