Man Arrested Following High Speed Chase South of Mandan

Posted:

A Mandan man is charged for what led up to yesterday's high speed chase that started in Burleigh County and ended near the South Dakota Border.

38-year-old Robert Martell faces multiple charges in federal court including conspiracy to possess with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Martell made his initial appearance in federal court in Bismarck this morning.

He is accused of having in excess of 500 grams of a substance containing meth, and delivering close to fourteen grams.

The chase started on the Bismarck side of Missouri on 1804 Wednesday afternoon as members of the Drug Task force attempted to arrest him.

Martell fled in a truck and led authorities on a chase across the Missouri into Mandan.

The suspect then led authorities south on 1806 at high speeds.

The situation ended without incident in a field about a half hour from Prairie Knights Casino.

Authorities say no guns were found when he was arrested.
