Public Provides Input On Events Center

Posted:

Should a new events center be built in north Bismarck, or should the city just add on to the existing Civic Center?

Tonight the second of three public input meetings is held to gather input on what Bismarck residents want.

A new facility in north Bismarck would cost around $150 million, and adding on to the current Civic Center will cost $27 million.

"I would favor the downtown one, I think it's a great location when they have things down there, we've made a lot of movement to try and revitalize our downtown, I think taking the Civic Center out of that picture really just crushes all of that," Vaughn Rhodes said.

"I just don't think there's room down there, you need a bigger place, you know this town has grown three times, since that was built, and that's too small I think," Jeff Gage said.

The final Public Input Meeting will be held tomorrow (March 5th) at Wachter Middle School, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
