The man accused of animal cruelty enters a plea of "NOT GUILTY" in Morton County.
Authorities seized more than 150 horses and mules from properties belonging to William Kiefer in January after finding 96 dead animals on property near New Salem.
Kiefer was represented by his attorney Jodi Colling.
She entered a not guilty plea for him--for five counts of cruelty to animal charges.
Colling says her client does not need to appear in court for misdemeanor charges.
Colling says they next set up a dispositional conference for early April.
