47-year-old Arrested in Connection to Fatal Hit and Run Accident

Posted: Updated:

An arrest is made in connection with the death of a Dickinson man.

47-year-old Timothy Menges was arrested and charged with negligent homicide following a fatal hit and run accident that happened along Villard in Dickinson.

Tracy Freer died after a hit and run accident outside his business the Queen City Motel last November.

Since the fatal hit and run, police and the family have been waiting for someone to come forward with information.

This weekend, that finally happened.

More than one source reached out to police, which led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Missouri.

"Monday afternoon, ended up making contact with the person, whose been named Tim Menges. Yesterday afternoon at five o'clock is the approximate time of arrest." says Sgt. Kylan Klauzer/Dickinson Police Detective.

An arrest that was made possible thanks to more than one source, who wish to remain anonymous.

"The question's been presented if the reward money has been helpful to us, that was something that led to anyone coming forward, at this time here, we can't say that, but we can say that definitely there was a dark cloud looming over this, these people's heads, it was something that weighed heavily in coming forward and talking to us." says Sgt. Klauzer.

We were in contact with some members of the Tracy Freer family, they found out about the arrest, just this morning.

While there have been many messages posted on their Closure for the Family of Tracy Freer facebook page, the family has said that they would like until they have more information on what happened before speaking publicly.

Klauzer says police seized a vehicle belonging to Menges, a gray dodge pickup.

The 47-year-old is being held in the Southwest Multi Correctional Center in Dickinson.

Klauzer says he believes there are other witnesses who saw the accident.

He hopes they come forward now that an arrest is made.
