Two Teens Killed in Accident Near Watford City

We have more details today on the fatal crash near Watford City.

The Highway Patrol reports two people - 17-year-old Hank Allen of Watford City, and 18-year-old Austin McCaulley of Watford City - died in the crash just after one Tuesday afternoon.

The two teens were riding in an SUV driven by 17-year-old Fenton Matthew of Watford City on Highway 85 about two miles west of Watford City.

The Patrol reports their SUV was headed west when it hit some slush on the highway and spun, sliding into the path of a semi that was heading east.

The semi hit the SUV's passenger side, slicing the vehicle in half.

The driver of the SUV was injured and taken to the hospital, but no condition report is available.

The semi driver - a Texas man - was not injured in the crash.

The accident shut down Highway 85 for several hours Monday afternoon while debris was cleaned up.
