Sports Show Begins Friday

Posted: Updated:

If the lingering snow is giving you spring fever, we have the cure.

The 31st annual KX Sports Show starts tomorrow at the State Fair Center.

Jennifer Thorgramson is standing by live where exhibitors are getting that 'spring feeling' ready for the show.

Today was set up day here at the State Fair Center --- and for a sports show of this size, it's no small task.

Gaylen Ness and I spoke to a handful of those big names you can expect to see here --- and they are as ready to 'think spring' as the rest of us.

In like a lion and out like a lamb.

If a foot of snow is any indication, the month of March is right on track.

(Gary Van Beek, River City Sports) "We knew there was weather coming so we started hauling boats up here last week. You guys got a foot of snow so that means we had to push a foot of snow off the boats."

River City Sports made the trip from Bismarck.

Gary's been back every year for more than 20 years.

This time he has double the space and 21 reasons to stop by.

(Gary Van Beek, River City Sports) "We try to put it on scale paper so that when we get here, we know that everything will fit properly but things don't always turn out the way you want them to on paper."

Near by, you'll recognize Pure Honda --- the people under that familiar tent aim to bring something new.

(Darrin Benno, Pure Honda) "This year we're trying to give deals. Try to make it a sale instead of a show."

Pure Honda has a number of winter ATV's to move --- and if you're craving wind in your hair, they have that too.

(Darrin Benno, Pure Honda) "I think everybody is ready for spring. We had a shot of it and then a storm to remind us where we live. But we get the itch pretty early. It gets nice out and they want to buy something. Every year it's the same, it gets warm, we sell some bikes."

(Gary Van Beek, River City Sports) "Anytime you go to a boat show and you're under the same roof as your competitors, you wan to make sure that you have your best price of the year. There are a lot of factory incentives. Everybody realizes that this is the best time to buy so you put your best foot forward."

Days are getting longer.

Temps are getting --- a LITTLE warmer.

And the KX Sports Show marks that time of year when it's okay to 'think spring.'

The 31st annual KX Sports Show starts tomorrow at noon and continues Saturday and Sunday.
