Last night members of North Dakota's 818th Engineer Company landed back on U.S. soil.
Sgt. Major Wallace Keller is the proud father of Patrick Keller, who is part of the 818th.
Patrick's unit spent nearly a year in Afghanistan clearing mines, building roads and performing maintenance.
Keller says it's a dangerous job and he was relieved when his son called him yesterday, to let him know he was back in the states.
"I was here at work and was upstairs and the phone went off and it said Patrick Keller and I thought oh thank God, we're back on U.S. soil," Sgt. Major Wallace Keller said.
Sgt. Darren Linde and Specialist Tyler Orgaard were also part of the 818th.
They died last December when a roadside bomb exploded and hit their vehicle.
