Arrest in Williston Bomb Scare

A Williston man has been arrested in connection with a bomb scare that shut down access to several buildings in Williston this morning.

Williston Detective Dave Peterson says that 8:42 a.m., police received reports of a suspicious duffel bag containing possible explosive making material in a building near the Lutheran Bretheran Fellowship Church area of 26th Street East.

Detective Peterson says buildings in the area were evacuated and the Minot Police Bomb Squad was called to help evaluate the possible bomb.

Based on further items found by the Minot Bomb squad and subsequent investigations, 21-year-old male Jordan Poindexter of Williston was arrested with criminal attempt, possession of a bomb.

Williston police believe this is an isolated incident and that the person responsible is in custody.

Authorities are keeping the scene secure at this time as the investigation continues.
