Kids and sports. It's a recipe for fun despite pretty hefty challenges some young people endure daily.
Local non-profit, Dreams in Motion, teams with University of Mary Women's Softball to bring kids with mobility challenges or visual impairment some rigorous wheelchair soccer. Previously, we covered Dreams in Motion hockey and curling. Soccer is another sport all kids are excited to get to play.
"The interactions are amazing, but also everything that sports gives you. And we are giving a chance to kids with mobility challenges to get all of the benefits that any kind of sporting event will offer," says Jennie Kuller, Vice President, Dreams in Motion.
"I can come out here and play, and work really hard playing and stuff. And I like the action. It's a lot more fun playing with my peers and stuff," says Agatha Gietzen, Wheelchair Soccer Participant.
"You know, once you get past the wheelchair, we're just normal kids out here doing something we love to do," says Michael Kaip, Senior, Mandan High School.
If you'd like to assist Dreams in Motion, a silent auction and Zumbathon is being held next Saturday at Mandan Middle School. You'll have a chance to bid on Minnesota Twins tickets, Bison Football tickets, Raging Rivers Waterpark passes and more. They're hoping to raise enough money to purchase equipment, including hockey sleds and a trailer.
