Forum Communications has been approved to start exclusive negotiations with the North Dakota High School Association to televise state tournaments next year on ABC.
Forum Communications owns WDAY and WDAZ in Fargo and Grand Forks, and also KBMY in Bismarck and Dickinson KMCY in Minot and Williston.
The negotiations with the NDHSAA are over the rights to broadcast football, hockey, and Class A and Class B boys and girls basketball.
The agreement is for five years on ABC with the Forum.
The state tournaments will be broadcast live in high definition for the first time in the tournament history.
Forum Communication's bid of $680,000 was about $6,000 per year higher than the NBC North Dakota's.
