Two Williston Principals Resign

Posted: Updated:

Williston Schools will be seeing a major change next year.

That's because both the high school and middle school principals will be stepping down at the end of this school year.

Chris Kittleson and Marcia Bartok submitted their resignation papers this month.

High school principal Chris Kittleson will become the principal in Casselton.

Bartok will be taking a position in Minot with the Boys and Girls Ranch.

Their resignations were accepted by the Williston School Board yesterday.

Williston superintendent Viola LaFontaine was not surprised by either resignation.

She said each principal is looking for a new challenge.

LaFontaine's challenge will be to replace the two principals before the beginning of the next school year.

(Viola LaFontaine, Superintendent, Williston Schools) "We'll just have to see how things roll out. We've got several people within the school district that have their administrative credentials, so maybe one of them will be interested in stepping up."

LaFontaine says the district had to replace two elementary principals this year and that experience will help in the search this time.
