The Northwest Minot Regional DUI Task Force in conjunction with the North Dakota Department of Transportation will increase efforts to keep individuals from driving under the influence.
This effort is a full collaboration between Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Department, and Police Department to deter impaired driving.
Sobriety checkpoints will not be used because of the weather.
Captain Gary Orluck says law enforcement is always on the look out for drunk driving, but now more officers will be used.
(Cpt. Gary Orluck, State Highway Patrol) "We're making shift adjustment and also have some overtime available. We're putting more officers on the road in order to remove the impaired driver. We're hoping through the education component prior to the enforcement effort that will convince people no to drink and drive in the first place. If they do we're going to be out there looking for them."
