Minot and Ward County will receive more than $40 million in additional Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery aid.
North Dakota's congressional delegation made the announcement today ---
which brings the total amount of CDBG funding for Minot to more than $112 million.
The city of Minot will recieve $35 million in CDBG funding directly.
$6.6 million will go to the state of North Dakota --- of that $6.6 million, 80 percent or $5.2 million is expected to go to Ward County.
The new round of CDBG money is different in that it can be used for home acquisition outside the floodplain.
(Sen. John Hoeven, (R) North Dakota) "There's a lot to do here. This is certainly going to help but we're committed to continuing to make sure that we meet the needs of the region."
At the end of last year, Congress passed disaster assistance legislation that included additional CDBG funding for 2011 disasters through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
