ND Clothesline Project: Festive Shirts Are Sobering Reminders of Violence

Posted: Updated:

Festively-colored shirts on display at the Capitol are actually sobering reminders of violence against women and children.  However, the shirts are said to also play a role in the healing process for many survivors.

Organizers say the North Dakota Clothesline Project bears witness to real-life experiences -- crafted by someone who cares about the victims.  They're all color-coded, with white shirts created in memory of women or children who died of violence.

Last year alone, over 4,500 children were directly impacted by incidents of domestic violence.
