Senator Hoeven: "U.S. Needs To Do What North Dakota Is Doing

Posted:

Senator John Hoeven says what we're doing in North Dakota should be done across the country.

At an energy roundtable today in Bismarck, Hoeven describes how a comprehensive plan like Empower ND needs to be created at the federal level.

He says the plan will not only help create energy, but also jobs, economic growth and national security.

"We can produce more oil than we use that is a big part of energy independence, because then we're no longer getting oil from the middle east or from Venezuela think what that means for national security," Senator John Hoeven said.

Hoeven also focused on the Keystone XL Pipeline.

The pipeline would take an estimated 500 trucks a day off of North Dakota roads.

Hoeven says not only are Americans supportive of the pipeline, but so is the Senate.

"Recent poll, more than 70 percent of people in this country support the Keystone XL Pipeline, passed it once, President rejected it, he required we changed the route through Nebraska that's been done, this past week I had an amendment on the floor passed it with 62 votes in the Senate, put the Senate on record squarely in support of the Keystone XL Pipeline," Hoeven said.

Hoeven says if the president doesn't approve the pipeline this time around, the senate should have the power to move it through to congress.
