Around Town -- March 29, 2013

A technology and business center; two downtown retail stores; and an electrical services company -- all brand new in Bismarck.

They're separate stores, but a one-stop location for men's clothing and women's accessories.  Annex 208 is owner Ray Bergquist's first adventure into retail -- but you'd never know it, with his something-for-every-man approach.  Describing his shop as "everyday casual wear," he says it's an open, no-hassle shopping experience for guys.

Right next door is Right on Broadway.  You'll find upscale, specialty handbags, accessories and jewelry -- and shoes for men and women.  "We're getting new items in every single week; new brands all the time, and we just want it to be something fresh everytime someone stops down," says Michelle Kaufman, Owner, Right on Broadway and Hey Ocean.
Both stores are located at 208 East Broadway.

Affinity Global Solutions is constructing a new headquarters on Burlington, but they'll have plenty of room to spare in the 17,000 square foot building.  These super-size beams are part of what will enable the structure to be completely open -- and there are lots of other special features too.  The builder says this is the first building in North Dakota to use these materials, which look like concrete block, but are actually 85% wood and 15% concrete, making the structure well-insulated and efficient.  The building will also utilize geothermal heating and cooling, with 24-hour generator back-up.

"We do software development, largely for state government.  It seemed like doing something different that was more architectural, and sort of technology-related kind of building would be appropriate," says Brent Levinson, Vice President, Affinity Global Solutions.
Western Edge Electric opens its new company in Bismarck.  Servicing commercial and residential customers, the business installs and services electrical, data communications, security, phone and irrigation systems.  "We have a lot of good people that have experience to do any kind of electrical work that's out there.  We can fit your needs for whatever you have," says Dan Schonert, Owner, Western Edge Electric, Inc.

They're having an open house for commercial customers on April 5th.  For more information, visit their website at
