Autism Awareness Month Arrives

Posted: Updated:

Autism is a disease that can strike out of the blue -- a seemingly healthy child suddenly shows severe learning issues with no understanding for the parents why it happened.

April is celebrated as Autism Awareness Month...and it will be something you'll notice with a drive on Broadway in Minot tomorrow night.

Rehab Services will 'Light It Up Blue' along with thousands of other buildings across the country.

Windows will shine bright blue as a way to bring awareness to the disease millions of Americans have.

Terry Peterson with Rehab says bringing awareness this month is a great way to get people talking about awareness and the best ways to treat it -- and find ways to help.

(Terry Peterson - Rehab Services, Inc.) "Light it Up Blue...what is this blue thing? The ask about it and that is your in. That is where you can explain to people that this is a big issue and something that needs to be addressed. The needs are only increasing and who is out there providing those services and how can I help?"

Peterson says the Rehab building on Broadway will go blue for a week starting tomorrow evening.
