Bismarck Street Crews Taking Advantage of Nice Weather

Posted:

The nice weather the past few days has Bismarck street crews out and about, getting roads ready for summer.

They're busy patching potholes and sealing cracks to avoid future road damage.

Rod Kudrna says it's important to make sure potholes get filled so roads are safe for drivers.

"Important part is usually people blow tires out if they get bad enough or they dodge them and could have an accident, so we try to watch, especially the ones that are on the main through streets," Rod Kudrna said.

You'll also notice street sweepers on residential streets.

The past several weeks crews have been cleaning main streets, but as of yesterday they're now cleaning residential and side streets.

"What it does is helps keep our storm sewers clean, all that sand and debris whenever we get moisture washes down and goes into our storm sewer system, and it really helps if we pick that sand up," Kudrna said.

For a complete list of when your residential street will be swept, log onto the Bismarck webiste, and click on streets underneath the "residents" tab.
