The chance of flooding has risen in the past two weeks according to the National Weather Service.
In the bi-weekly hydrologic outlook issued today, Hydrologist Allen Schlag increased the percentage chances of moderate flooding at most locations along the Mouse River.
The chances for moderate flooding are put at more than 95% for Sherwood and the Foxholm gage, plus in Sawyer, Towner, Bantry, and Westhope.
The chances for moderate flooding are estimated at 42% at the Boy Scout Bridge, 6% at the Minot Broadway Bridge, and 34% at Logan.
On the bright side, the Weather Service puts the chance of moderate flooding at less than 5% for Velva.
For other area rivers, the moderate flooding chance is less than 5% on the Wintering River at Karlsruhe, 8% for the Des Lacs River at Foxholm, and 80% for Willow Creek near Willow City.
Schlag points out that ice-jam-related flooding is always a concern at this time of year and people living along the river should watch the ice breakup closely for signs of sudden increases in levels.
