Minot Rural Fire Pancake Breakfast

Minot Rural Fire Pancake Breakfast

Posted: Updated:

Calls have doubled for Minot Rural Fire Department over the past few years.

With the fast rate at which Minot is expanding, the firefighters have to increase their boundaries constantly.

This calls for more equipment.

The cost of gear for one firefighter amounts to about seven thousand dollars.

Multiply that by 40 men and two sets of gear for each --- tax dollars received only go so far.

A pancake breakfast this morning brought in more than four thousand dollars to supplement firefighters' needs --- and fundraiser's like this often go directly back to the community.

(Robert Braden, Firefighter) "Our firefighting equipment that we use on a daily basis, to repair it, replace it, or to buy new as we need. Or if the firefighters see something that would be better for use in the community, we'll go out and buy that."
