Pride of Dakota Products In Bismarck

Posted:

April marks Pride of Dakota month in North Dakota.
One Bismarck distributor is expanding her lineup--adding hundreds of new products--in fact an entire store.
Reporter Sarah Gustin has the story.

Walk into Arrowhead Plaza Drug in Bismarck and you'll find plenty of homemade products--made right here in North Dakota.
Sherry Furcht has been the owner of Arrowhead Plaza Drug for nearly a decade.
Furcht says while Pride of Dakota products have always been a top seller in this store, she's now expanding the selection and the shopping area to the Gateway Mall.
(Sherry Furcht / Pride of Dakota Distributor) "I just noticed that people kind came in because they were looking at them and there were so many more products they were asking for, so I just decided it seemed like a good product, it would be a good seller, so I just kept looking for more and more companies and just expanding as more companies became available."
Furcht is the new owner of Prairie Creek--where Pride of Dakota products fill nearly the entire store.
(Sherry Furcht / Pride of Dakota Distributor) "It gave us a second location. It was a destination place already for Pride of Dakota products. When it became available, I decided while it was something that instead of closing and having us be the only one, it gave us a second outlet."
Products from more than 200 Pride of Dakota members fill the shelves.
(Sarah Gustin / sgustin@kxnet.com) "Furcht says while many of the food items will be stay the same at both stores, she says the home interior items will vary depending on which location you shop at."
(Sherry Furcht / Pride of Dakota Distributor) "I am adding to Prairie Creek, that I know that sells and Prairie Creek has items that we do not carry down there, so I will be incorporating it down there."

Pride of Dakota program is celebrating it's 28th year.
The program has now has more than 500 members.
