Learning the States

Posted: Updated:

There was a great lesson being taught today at Edison Elementary in Minot inside Melissa Stanley's 4th grade class...and she didn't have to do much of the talking.

It was her students today who were giving the lesson...on states of the union.

4th grade curriculum includes North Dakota studies...but beyond that, Mrs. Stanley has her students pick another state to research through the year.

Today, they were presenting that state to other students at Edison...making them the teachers!

(Luke Peterson - 4th Grader) "Elvis' picture...he was really popular back then...he is not as popular today but back then he was really really popular. The poker chips, cards, and dice are from Treasure Island Resort and Casino." (Zoe Weishaar - 4th Grader) "I have actually been to Hawaii and this looks like a monkey and it is made out of wood and is from the real Hawaiian islands." >
