The city of Sawyer is preparing itself for any potential flood fight in the coming weeks.
The main focus to this point for the city has been clearing the river levees of snow.
Sawyer Public Information Officer Cody Roteliuk ROT-leck says the dikes are in good shape after fighting back the 2011 flood, although grass hasn't re-grown yet so getting them dried down is a must in case of high water.
(Cody Roteliuk, Sawyer Public Information Officer) "If we would have to add on to them it's an additional step that we wouldn't have to take at that time. We could use some warm weather to dry them out. They of course don't have any sod on them from the 2011 flood so they're muddy. We've also brought in sandbags for area residents to us."
The sandbags and sand is available behind the Sawyer City hall.
You do need to bring your own shovel to fill the bags.
