There's a lot of water in that heavy snow.
Extension Agent Jackie Buckley says there's slightly more than an inch of rain in those 18 inches of heavy, wet snow.
Buckley says this recent snow will push seeding back past May 1st.
While seeding will be delayed, she says the snow is a welcome sight for many producers in the western part of the state who've had only a minimal amount of moisture since the fall.
(Jackie Buckley / Morton Co. Extension Agent) "It's really going to be some nice moisture for our top soil. We didn't have a lot of that, so it's going to melt. Hopefully, most of it will go into the ground. I know that we will have some major runoff, but at least some it will soak in."
Buckley says while the moisture is a huge benefit for the land, it's very hard for ranchers who are trying to keep calves alive and healthy.
