New North Star Conference coming to North Dakota NAIA schools

Bismarck, ND -

The DAC, or Dakota Athletic Conference, looks to be reforming.
It'll now go by the name, the North Star Conference.
The North Star Conference has been officially recognized by the NAIA and can start competition this fall.
Five schools are working to begin the new conference by July.
Jamestown College, Mayville State, Valley City State, Dakota State and Presentation College.
Dickinson State has been officially invited by the North Star to join.
But DSU athletic director Tim Daniel says no official steps have been made by DSU at this time.
They are still currently a part of the Frontier Conference, and will be through at least this next school year.
All of these schools were a part of the original DAC, except Presentation College.
Presentation was NCAA Division III, they were just accepted into the NAIA today.
The North Star Conference is hoping to start playing games already this fall with 5 member schools.
If in 2014-2015 Dickinson State would join, the conference would be allowed an automatic national tournament bid once they have 6 member schools.
