Hope Village is about to start hopping once again...
The faith based rebuilding effort housed just outside of Our Savior Lutheran Church brought in thousands of volunteers last year to work on flooded homes...
Now those volunteers are starting to come back strong.
This weekend the camp that can house 166 people at a single time will be almost fully operational -- and just in time because starting next week crews will start coming in much stronger numbers than they have over the winter months.
(Steve Carbno - Hope Village Coordinator) "It was exciting that this week we had 30 people out in the neighborhoods working. Not that we didn't appreciate the fives and sixes that showed up during the winter, but we are really now starting to pick up the momentum that we need to get this taken care of."
The job is still substantial in the valley...
Hope Village has about 120 homes on the books right now that are at different points in the rebuilding process.
Carbno says over the winter months they were able to take a look at everything and see where they stand heading into a busy few months of volunteer help.
(Steve Carbno - Hope Village Coordinator) "We have categorized them from between 25 percent of less to 90 percent done. Some are just a hair's breath away from being done and others with a lot of work to do."
Carbo says it takes between 800 and one thousand hours of volunteer time to get a single house put back together.
