Today was the day kids and adults alike have been waiting for since the flood of 2011.. The Zoo is open again!
The grand re-opening of Roosevelt Park Zoo attracted quite a crowd today.
Since it was so badly flooded in 2011, it has taken quite a bit of time and effort from zoo workers and volunteers to get it up and running again.
Today was a celebration of everyone's hard work, and even the weather was finally cooperating.
There were bouncy castles, food, and even live music for entertainment, along with the animals themselves.
But, because of how chilly it's been, only about 60 percent of the animals are back at the zoo.
Roosevelt Zoo Marketing coordinator Staci Skeldum says work will continue through the summer to get all the animals home.
(Staci Skeldum, Marketing Coordinator, Roosevelt Zoo) "The people that went through the flood in Minot, they know how it feels to finally step foot back into something that's normal and this is just proving that we're a strong community and that we can come back after something like this, and that we can grow from it and be better than ever."
In May, the Zoo will be open from 10 to 6 every day.
