Minot Hopes to Host Oil Conference

Posted: Updated:

When more than 22-hundred people walked through the displays at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Regina this week, they encountered Minot's booth right near the main entrance.

The Minot Area Development Corporation teamed up with Visit Minot to present information about business opportunities in the Magic City.

In addition, Wendy Howe of Visit Minot says the idea was to make contacts with conference officials about bringing the event back to Minot in the future.

In the past, Minot has hosted the event that rotates between North Dakota and Saskatchewan each year.

But recently, Bismarck has been the North Dakota location for the conference.

(Wendy Howe, Visit Minot) "Minot is the gateway to the Bakken and that is what MADC promotes while they're up here and so we feel that Minot is the best destination for this conference in the state of North Dakota. We've got a great facility, we've now got more hotel rooms than we've ever had, and with it being the entrance to what's happening, it's the perfect location to host the conference."

The 21st annual petroleum conference was held in Regina on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
