Housing Applications Re-Open

Posted: Updated:

There's a huge need for affordable housing in the area.

That's how Tom Pearson of the Minot Housing Authority describes the situation locally.

And that's why Pearson is expecting another big response as the MHA takes applications for leases for 16 townhouses in the Washington Townhomes development.

This is the second group of 16 units being made available.

About 125 people applied for the first 16 units a few months ago.

In total, 64 townhouses will be rented out in the Washington Townhomes area with rents as low as 398 dollars per month.

Pearson says people from all walks of life are eligible - as long as they meet the income requirements.

(Tom Pearson, Minot Housing Authority) "We have some elderly people. In this next group there are four handicap accessible units. We've had some elderly people who have moved into this first phase. It's a mix - family, elderly, and disabled, all living up here."

If you want to apply for a lease on one of the latest townhouses to become available, contact the Minot Housing Authority between tomorrow and next Tuesday.
