For decades it has stood tall watching over the Magic City from the top of North Hill...now the Grand International has undergone another name change...now simply called, the Grand Hotel. This property started as a Ramada actually 50 years ago...but it is now owned by private investors. The re-branding once again comes in a big year -- this summer there will be a celebration of 50 years for the hotel. Rooms are getting upgrades, and hotel in general too. Kelly Loos is the marketing director and she says the event will call on the past as they prepare for another 50 years.

(Kelly Loos - Grand Hotel Marketing Director) "We are inviting the Aqua Lillies from California to come and do synchronized swimming...at the opening 50 years ago we had that here. There will be food and it should be a great event and we are really excited.

Again that celebration is slated for next month.

Right across Burdick Expressway from the State Fairgrounds you'll find The Muffler Shop. They were of course in the flood zone...but may have been one of the fastest to return back after the water receded -- two weeks is all it took! Now they are preparing for more business as they have expanded what they do. It isn't just exhaust work anymore...but pretty close to any vehicle repair work.

(Joe Klein - The Muffler Shop and Repair) "We do two hoists with two full time techs and I have two full time exhaust guys but we do more than that. We do mechanical work now."

5 employees now...with plans for expansion both employees wise...and possibly a new building in the future as well. With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
