United Way Distributes Funds

Posted: Updated:

31 non-profit groups got a financial boost today thanks to the generosity of people in the area.

The Souris Valley United Way awarded a record 418-thousand dollars

to the organizations this afternoon.

That 418-thousand dollar figure is a big jump - up 26% over last year's donation total to United Way locally.

The funds are being distributed in three major categories - education, financial stability, and health.

Souris Valley United Way Board President Jarid Lundeen says

(Jarid Lundeen, Souris Valley United Way) "The city's growing and so is our campaign, and the need is always growing too. We're really happy to give this money back to the community, to put it to good use to all those organizations that put the muscle in - we raise the money and they do the work."

Lundeen said 12 of the 31 groups receiving funds from the Souris Valley United Way got their full grant requests.
