Dog Saved From House Fire In Mandan

Firefighters rescue a dog from a burning home.

As you can see here a firefighter walks out of the home carrying the family dog in his hands.

Just before 2 p.m. the Mandan Fire Department was called to this house on Lewis Road in Mandan.

Lewis Road is north of Old Red Trail in Mandan in a newer housing development.

When crews arrived smoke and flames were already shooting out of the roof of the home.

Today's strong winds didn't help fire fighters battle the blaze.

Again nobody was hurt in the fire.

"Residents were not home at the time of the incident, there was a pet inside the building and the first arriving crews saved the pet," Mandan Battalion Fire Chief Mitch Bitz said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
